I regularly have skip-level meetings with my supervisor’s supervisor and they just moved it to Thursday, August 7. I know they are doing talent review last week and this week so now I’m thinking our regular 1:1 will be a layoff. Or do they always send the meeting invites day of?

@OP
So, what happened with your meeting?
You’re not getting laid off. You may even get some good news. Hard to believe, I know.
Is this what a “skip level” is? We were always told it was nothing to worry about. Now I’m worried.
@OP I got a 3-hour notice after getting laid off by my Indian manager who was accompanied by his speechless US manager (coward). No empathy whatsoever, it was cold and poorly delivered.
Well, maybe that's why my skip-level was moved to Thursday morning. LOL!
@a9 My manager's manager laid me off, not an HR person.
they wont give several days advance notice if you are being let go. notice always the day of. They have so many to do each month so you are it this month
How many have skip levels planned for thurs? I don’t think you are alone. Lots of us out there. Were made aware of this today
My sr. director scheduled a separate meeting 2 days before the meeting, and she was the one that laid me off. Her boss was invited but did not attend. After I was laid off, I never heard from my director. That was a year ago, so maybe they are aren't bothering to schedule an additional meeting anymore
@a9 My manager's manager laid me off. I think it depends on the org and availability.
Your manager’s manager isn’t the one laying you off. It’s a random HR person.
What is talent review week?
If it was moved to 9am, maybe
Meetings get moved, unless there's some other circumstance surrounding your team/role, I would not assume this is a layoff call. Those calls are usually scheduled the night before or the day of, and are almost always set for 15 minutes..
