About a year ago, one day I was working like normal, the next I was out. No heads-up, nothing. Thought it was the end of the world, but a few months later I landed something better and higher paying. If I’d known it would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have lost so much sleep.

Silly goose asking for promotion at UHG is not done its take it or leave it. Only way you get one is if you are chosen for some reason. Then they throw a title at you but no money. So many useless VP level around getting in the way cant walk a step without tripping over one
Im glad things worked out for you. I think the takeaway is to be proactive and start looking now, before your number is called. Things in the US are a lot different than they were a year ago and not for the better.
Absolutely! Left 5 years ago and have never regretted it. All I requested was a promotion to ‘senior’ level of my role at the time; mainly because I was training all the external hire ‘seniors’ they brought in. They told me that it wasn’t in the budget so I left. I’m making more than double what I was when I left Optum. Get out while you can, there are better opportunities out there if you can find them.
Well why didn’t they make you a strategic advisor just like they do in the C Suite. Get ousted and you get the title of an advisor just so you can continue to pay your buddies some perks.
