Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Supervisors are snakes who are out for themselves.

I thought i had a great year going. I helped out a new group and got them set up In a new location. I was told by the slimy supervisor I was doing great and not to worry about ranking. I turned in my pds and included some knowledge others that provided good feedback for me. My a hole supervisor picked some others that did not know what I did. They also put in some negative attributes about me in my 2 minutes. I was told by the lying snake I was in good shape for the rankings. I was put in nsi and piped now. I am in my 40's and have to pass the pip otherwise good bye pension. When I protested the ranking all I was told was the system picked me and it was the supervisors fault. I was assured that they were my protector and they fought for me in the ranking. Now I am being transfered into a new group and the new supervisor is handling the pip. It is a total shot show and su-ks. I am being assured by the old supervisor that I will pass the pip. I do not believe a word any of the say. I am ready to move on if I don't pass the pip. I was working 50 to 60 hours a week to help out the new groups and others. Other members of my team only worked 40 hours if that.i was told more is expected of relative to the others. Hard work doesn't pay at exxon. I did not talk it up with the supervisors or brown nose like the others and maybe that is where I failed. I do hate this place and if I leave i think I will be happier at another work place. Don't trust supervisors or coworkers.

What is surprising here? To me supervisor and low level management you need to amplify snake like poisonous attributes.

Supervisors do not become snakes, it is snakes who become supervisor and low level lowly managers and worthless VPs.

@by You’ve obviously never served a day in your life.

Your relationship with your chain of command heavily depends on your job, duty station, and your own personal conduct. Seems like you watched Full Metal Jacket one too many times.

Working more than 40 hours is not acknowledged or appreciated, it’s for your own self gratification. Unless your supervisor asks you to work over and comps you for it, they will not acknowledge in the pds.

ExxonMobil is just like any military. As an employee, you need to respond with "Yes, Drill Sargent" or "No, Drill Sargent" to all requests by your managers. Even then, you may be assigned Kitchen Duty for the rest of your tour of duty.

I’m all for posts but based on the OP’s writing style, the same person has posted multiple lengthy rambles over the last week. Hope you feel better soon.

Regrettably, supervisors are mimicking example set by the executives. In a system that has created a pyramid of walking, talking, low integrity trash calling themselves leaders, it is consistent with expectations that your supervisor behaves this way

You have to be a follower at XOM to be a leader. Anyone who voices an opinion other than the company’s shall be tossed into the bottom of the bucket.

Best way to manage throughout the year is to document (preferably once a month) your accomplishments and send an email to your supervisor and his/her manager along with any kudos from the other groups that you helped.

This way you have a paper trail once a month that cannot be denied when the managers get together to rank you.

Do not wait until PDS to remind management of your yearly accomplishments.
