Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The planned HC reductions through 2030 are ridiculous

They are gutting this company. As part of company plan they have the 2030 target of employee count at about 47,000 employees. We are going to an asset light model. Look at the recent Australia news as the playbook for the next 5 years.

The higher oil prices to, the better you would think. Nope that just means they can divest everything quicker. As an employee you’re now sc--wed in a high price environment.

They’ve been told by the consultants and bankers this model would mean trading at a higher PE ratio because the market would view it as less risky because we might make less money but have less fixed costs.

We’ve spent about $30B buying back stock at elevated prices and the stock has gone nowhere. Great job MC. It’s almost as criminal as continuing to pay the dividend instead of using the cash to buy low and grow shareholder value. They now want to grow by cutting.

We have very little Gulf of Mexico production left and no exploration. No need to worry about Gulf of America if you are at XOM.

According to the report, around the time the former engineering director left, there was also “a broader exodus of skilled personnel from OceanGate,” which forced the company to rely more heavily on contractor support for the Titan missions in 2023. Cuts to full-time employees “disrupted operational continuity and dangerously weakened the company’s capacity to proactively address safety risks,” the report said.

It’s so disingenuous to be recruiting and hiring into Spring while simultaneously maxing MLRP and offshoring. One would think HR would be coordinated enough to stop the US based recruitment.

The headcount reductions will continue until it negatively affects the quarterly profits and not one minute sooner. Of course, by then it will be waaaaaay to late and the company will be in for a very rude awakening but of course, the MC will claim no one could've seen this coming and worst-case for them, they ride off into the sunset with even more millions.

We stated in the 1990's that the only thing we can control is our OPEX globally. Staff reductions will continue through at least 2030.

If "The Cloud" and "AI" an d "Robots" help us long term, you will find that our OPEX efficiencies will continue well beyond 2030.
