There are no clear answers on who stays or goes. We are overwhelmed by rumors about job cuts and scaling back services. The fiber projects we worked on feel uncertain. It’s hard to focus when the future looks so shaky. After all the previous layoffs and stress, I just hope it will be over soon so that at least we know where each of us stands.

@5nx they didn't, comments below were about fiber builds. But my guess is once the fiber's placed, copper techs won't be needed. Everybody knows we were late to the game. Customers don't trust us, even at a competitive price.

Same thing in Northern WI but we had contractors engineering the orders. Yep the counted empty barns, pig pens, garages.
My boss knew it went unreported but he got a dandy under budget bonus because of it.
Yes in Southern Wisconsin our Engineering department counted every corner crib, tree stand and out house to possible new customer adds. Tax dollars were based on the count and millions of dollars got placed in upper managements pockets in bonuses. Then came the layoff. Kinda stinks.
I sure hope VZ does fiber builds better than Ftr. Frontier in Wi and WV . They waisted federal $$ in fiber builds basically steeling our tax dollars. Investigative TV had a program today about dead spots and the Frontier's waste. I saw it first hand in Wi. My hope is our new/old company plays by the rules.
Verizon will build more fiber, not less. Ignore the rumors and focus on getting the job done.

I've been VZ and Frontier. Vz favors contractor labor. Traditional manpower is moved where needed for management. Be there on Monday or else kind of thing.
Guessing management will get trimmed If your not In charge of 22 employees Verizon will consolidate them. Centrylink is the same way. Contractors don't count for any local management head count
I got let go in 2016 from Frontier in Wi after a very long career. There's life after Ftr and soooooo happy I got let go. The LM's that they retained were/are a$$ kissers and number manipulators. From what I hear the current Director is so evil and corrupt techs fear him and want out. But his numbers look good so they are keeping him. Work elsewhere and at the end of the day you too will find peace. The back stabbing will end and your pride Will be restored
@a4 I remember when they ask techs to come in from the desert and they can still keep their jobs. Two months later they were given their "pink slip" a year later it was my turn. Gotta move on.
