Halliburton’s Q2 2025 earnings report.
Revenue is down: The company made less money this quarter compared to the same time last year, mainly due to lower demand for oilfield services in North America.
Profit fell: Net income (what’s left after expenses) dropped significantly.
Job cuts and restructuring: We spent a lot of money already on severance and restructuring, meaning layoffs and closing or scaling back some operations.
Outlook: The company is trying to stay profitable by cutting costs and focusing on more stable markets.
"Drill, Baby, Drill” is an empty promise and a flawed strategy. The oilfield runs on economics. When oil prices crash from overproduction, operators pull back, and service companies get hit with layoffs and shutdowns. OPEC+ will raise output by 547,000 barrels per day in September. If service companies can't break even, no drilling happens. Turns out, you can’t drill your way out of basic math.
