SoCalGas lays off number of workers

It's unclear exactly how many employees were let go or what positions were affected, but in a statement, a spokesperson for the company said the move is part of recent "regulatory outcomes" and "evolving business needs."

@qd I'm really sorry that you were laid off. I've been with SoCalGas for several years, and this company has really gone downhill and is not the same company that it once was. Morale is at an all-time low, and everyone employee knows that SoCalGas no longer cares about them. I'm not sure what their end game is, but so many employees are leaving because of how SoCalGas has treated them. It's sad to see the downfall of such a once great company. It's no longer a good place to work at all, and they really should have done better by you and so many others.

Followed by 61 represented. They claim “shortage of work” but we don’t see it in the field neither in the office work…

I was one of those laid off.

I was under the impression that SoCalGas was a 'forever company' who would always look out for their employees. Every month we'd see a retirement video showing people who'd worked there for 20, 30, 40, even 50 YEARS sometimes.

I am older, and close to retirement. I have been at the company for almost nine years. I only wanted a few more. But I got dumped, even though our department has a lot of work to do. I also heard of people who had been there for DECADES just dropped like a hot rock. Gonna be a real challenge at my age to find a new job in tech.

A co-worker told me they had a 'bad taste in their mouth' about how all this went down. Like me, he thought the company would do better. But they did not.
