Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I somehow managed to become a veteran

Still not sure how I survived so many layoffs, budget cuts, and reorgs. A veteran with a capital V. I can still remember a time when I was genuinely proud of the work I did, and the environment was at least somewhat supportive and productive. It’s a bit foggy now, but the memory is still there.

As for this place today? It feels hollowed out and eerie, like something vital is long gone. Day after day, all you feel is shame and a creeping sense of defeat. I'm holding on because I'm close to retirement. But if you're any younger, do yourself a favor - leave for a better job and a better company before it’s too late.

10 years here too, all the fancy talk doesn’t fool me, last 6 years or so, checking my back constantly, you have to. You should too, doesn’t matter where you are, even VP level, yacht owner, lol. They don’t care about your situation, you can have cancer, fam could’ve just had a stroke, your kid could be at St Jude, point being, these people do not give a sh-t about you, and won’t, and never will. You have ZERO job security, doesn’t matter your position. Your colleagues might care, but that don’t pay the house note or the power bill does it? I’ve seen folks get laid off on maternity leave and when out for cancer so you should think hard about how much loyalty you have for these a--holes. Seriously. Find something else, you can likely find something else that is like a normal job and even take a side job and make more money with less stress and cortisol spikes. They are also making us fat lol, your managers have time for exercise, doing cross fit, it’s cute; you are too exhausted, as I am, for anything but to eat and fall into the bed. Just how they like it until you’re used up and they need to get a fresher Hebrew slave. They are all into dominating your life. Break your chains, escape, I am going to soon, a few on the hook, even a small cut would be worth it for my sanity and to know I’m no longer working for Satan himself. GL

@OP I feel the same way (10+ years) & I am now planning my escape too. I definitely won’t be here January 1, 2026. I originally planned to try to hang on longer, but the work stopped being fulfilling & I have options. So, my exit ramp is fast approaching & I won’t be looking in the rearview mirror.

Good luck to you.

All others: find your exit before they force you out. The ship is sinking & there are not enough lifeboats.
