Based on the news article, Sh!tibank sold its retail brokerage business almost 20 years ago because Sh!tibank had a near De@th experience during the 2008 Recession and needed multiple Bailouts in the Billions of Dollars from the USA Government.
This is a business unit it (and other banks) needs to smooth out earnings because of the volatility of the Institutional Trading and Investment Banking businesses.
The analogy is a destitute or financially unstable person selling their car, something they truly need to go to work, do errands etc., but the person needs the money for food and housing. It's a choice between eating or starving-Dy!ng.
This is very interesting and I’m curious what regulators are thinking
I can’t imagine we can touch a big acquisition or even a medium one until we are out of the consent order or have shown significant and I mean significant progress?
So much of the regulator concern was our cobbled together infrastructure from years of poorly integrated acquisitions. So you do the math…
