Thread regarding Optum layoffs

100x

This is how irresponsible 100x looks like !!

Train wreck every part of business. When you try to solve made up problems and destroy the ecosystem. We are still an old school mainframe shop like JPM. Innovation without accountability is this disaster. Many more heads will roll.

Well 100x doesn’t mean bang your boss or bang your direct reports! Speak to those in ESRO about that. It doesn’t mean through a million tantrums… see taco Trevor! What it means is reduce the stock price 100x faster than it took to get to its peak so that the company can become to a PE firm to break up! Holy cow is this a revelation! Now that Optum tech lost real talent in Shilts and others, the Distinguished engineers with talent left… who else is going to drive strategy… that’s right there isn’t any other than RTO! Everyone RTO except SVP that fly in to stay in the same hotel rooms as their bosses!
I’m still here but getting two offerers in the next week or two then I’m out! The rest of they feel the same way should follow suit!

I .e.?

I heard you manage Optum like it’s a demolition derby—running it into the ground at 100× speed, eroding hundreds of billions in market cap, shedding tens of thousands of U.S. jobs, and sliding down the Fortune 500—all while aggressively hiring in India and other offshore hubs.

I find it hilarious that we talk so much about revolutionizing healthcare with AI yet we use 40+ year old mainframes that are extremely complex and expensive to query.

You have to build on better foundations. Everyone wants to skip the cleanup and refactor step in favor of the shiny new thing. Even if we had solid foundations, the talent here isn’t equipped to actually accomplish most things. A lot of engineers here a maintenance engineers, not actual builders.

What are we talking about this time? There are so many departments and small companies UHG has acquired it’s hard to tell which post is talking about which department/ org
