Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Edward Jones = CHAOS

Utter chaos. Too much change at one time. Many people making decisions who know absolutely nothing. This is not going to end well.

Decision makers are tight lipped and people are getting desperate and petty. This whole thing is bringing out the worst in people and I don't think we'll be able to undo the damage of this scarcity mindset.

@y8 I have a whole sub function of 10 + people that did nothing for 2024 and through march 2025. Suddenly they are on a work frenzy trying to show value since April. Performance is awesome.

There's a person in my department who seems pretty desperate to demonstrate value after being asleep at the wheel for years.

@f7 We used to collaborate to figure problems out. I think there will be a bunch of people throwing other people under the bus going forward.

Yep, we are pursuing everything at the same time while also doing a massive reorg and layoffs. Recipe for disaster. Why execute massive changes when so many things are hanging on by a thread? Things are going to flat out break. Those with historical knowledge won’t even be here to help fix it.

Please share examples of the chaos. Let’s shine a little light on the debacle. ELT thinks they can hide from the chaos. Or that it doesn’t affect them. But it really is destroying the company.

Many people are leaving on Sept 5th. That is a month away. They are angry and disenfranchised. They don’t care how they leave or if they train replacements, etc. And they aren’t afraid to tell everyone they encounter just how much they don’t care. It’s difficult to get work done. Our department asked associates to complete a spreadsheet of the work they are currently doing and how or who it might be transitioned to. We had to list all our meetings and the people responsible for the bodies of work. It’s clear my area of the firm could belly flop big time and yes, it will affect branch teams. They will not get the support they need. And yes, many leaders are upset because their names weren’t on the org charts released by ELT. These are the people running the day to day. We have known for years it wasn’t partners running the firm — it was directors and senior managers. But they are all under fire right now as we “reduce layers”. THIS is what is causing the chaos. Firm leadership has no idea what they’ve done. ER is a colossal blunder that is putting MANY firm strategies at risk. But as Rhett Butler famously once said, “Frankly my Dear, I don’t give a damn.”

Those that are supposedly making the decisions are calm as a cucumber. Not like they need to do the work to clean this up.
