Badge Out Times & 2nd Job

Does anyone have insight into the new badge out requirements company wide? Will management see it? I currently work a 2nd remote job in addition to Micron and am wondering how to proceed.

My understanding is leadership will get a number of different reports showing how long you are badged on-site, how long you are connected to company servers on-site vs through a remote VPN.

You don't earn vacation here. You earn sick leave. Work, get sick, work, die.

There is a HR department? What the heck do they do? Are they looking at the policies?

Middle management only talks down and not up?

Come on guys. You guys keep us entertained here. Take the effort and talk it up.

Over employment is the new norm tbh, I have a second full time job in addition to the one at Micron. As far as I can tell they won't report you if you are on site for 4 hours per day so there shouldn't be any issues

They can't control you 24/7. You can have as many jobs as you wish as long as it doesn't impact your ability to work 7AM-6PM at the mothership.

Not to panic anyone, but the longer we scroll these threads, the faster our coffee gets cold... Priorities, people! :D

All these policy changes …feels like we’re racking up achievement badges whether we want to or not. Small price for fairness, I guess. At least it’s not another “optional” training invite in my inbox!

Badge-out process, it’s less about watching over us and more about making sure no one gets tripped up by loopholes. Annoying? Maybe. But at least it means consistency, and we all know what to expect.

It can't get worse than this. What rule is this. Can't go out for lunch? Are you guys living in 1800s? Fu--ing id--ts ... micro manage your family if you want ... not employees

Does your second job conflict with the first, in terms of conflict of interest? Is it git a competitor ? How is IP protected?
Might be breach of work contract.
These badge out requirements will unearth these things…. You might want to review what matters first you, a job at Micron ?

Badge reports will certainly be used against employees who show up late and leave early. It doesn't matter if you leave early to take evening calls or not, they still expect you to be on site.

Years ago when I was a Lead, the first thing the Department Head did when I gave him my list of layoff recommendations was to pull up a plot of weekly badge-in and badge-out hours to see where they landed in the distribution. Not great for the guys that would leave for lunch each day.

Management will use the data for sure but age and cost will surely continue to be a big factor in who gets let go.

It depends on if you are meeting your expectations, but I do worry that they will use this data for punitive actions. They say your manager only gets alerted if you only spend a few hours on site but I wouldn't trust it

Read between the lines...... It really doesnt make a lot of sense to wonder if mgt can see your badge in/out. Yes, they can and will. Create reports from it too. again, yes, several years back you had to badge out. You always have to badge in since that makes a lot sense. In the past I have seen this used as part of firing someone at Micron. As usuall they will tell you about the bar of gold they are giving you. Wink wink guess what that bar of gold is and it doesnt smell good.

Should not be any issues doing this, there are actually quite a few employees working two jobs to help offset the high cost of living against stagnant wages at Micron.
