I once thought my career meant something grand, but noo it doesn't anymore

Lost my passion for work about 10 years ago, but its a steady job with a lot of vacation now after 33 years (6 weeks). Just keep showing up and doing just enough to add value to your team and count the days until you sail off into the sunset. Find some new hobbies or learn a new language. Just don't stagnate in your personal life and not giving a darn about work will fade to background noise.
Most men live lives of quiet desperation. There is almost no such thing as grand career in corporate finance. The secret, as I found 15 years ago is to calibrate your appropriate work life balance. I chose less work and more life. I did just did enough to be seen as a solid contributor. Grew in my career by job hopping. Saved as much as I could. One more year to go but if the axe fell today it would be fine. I’ll be more than fine in retirement.
