Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Grass can be greener, earnings tomorrow lol

Top producer earner for the company, and somewhat newly former employee. How amazing it is to enter a non toxic workplace where you are genuinely appreciated, not being gaslit, not worried if you’re not going to be able to pay your mortgage or get laid off every few months, are not treated like a kindergartener, or utterly inept not a skilled and very experienced clinician. You may even be told to do things that are not remotely possible within a reasonable time so you can live a life too, perhaps to address 10-14 diagnoses, like an H&P (in an under one hour visit when you don’t have all records) not have to work 10-11 hours 5 nights a week, and your software issues are addressed quickly/same day, and FIXED. Check your managers, they are signed off of teams at or before 5, while you are still struggling till 7 or after. Not having to deal with software that is horrendous and in the field can cause hours of delays, but rest assured, no one is going to block your schedule to deal with the disastrous software they insist you use. LM is a disaster, they are changing of course to the new glorious model but they, as always didn’t think ANYTHING through before they cut staff, offered $50 to impoverished people prior to cutting all the staff to have a first visit, and continued laying people off, cut to the tendon so some guy could stay on a yacht someplace all I can think, their decision making is horrendous ALWAYS leading to fire drills literally every day, no staff and continual admits, you have to do this to meet metrics, but you have no help. Former patients expecting the prior level of quality of care they’ve been harping on recently is so important, but no one to provide it, maybe you should’ve rolled out all this new model prior to cutting all your staff and requiring the skeleton crew to try to do your wishes. You caused NEGLECT of patients, and it was intentional, or perhaps just id--tic? Corporate is utterly RIDICULOUS in their level of poor planning, and it’s been that way a LONG time, and it’s adorable how the real game plan is to so utterly disconnect management from those DOING the work that they just don’t advocate for them anymore, then you know they are fully Optumized. Don’t complain, no one wants to hear it, that’s the truth, and no one will fix it, stay there, and su-k it up or go, those are your options. At this point I wish I could sell my stock but am way underwater, likely due to their pi-s poor management decisions, as they deserve, will hope at some point I can, and likely will as the stock price has long been the priority of the company ahead of anything else- let’s get real. But I am SO GLAD to be out and not have to worry about continual layoffs and not have to deal with BS changes obviously made by non clinical people who have no idea what they are doing. They need to hire naive, new graduates who don’t know anything about anything, train them to do their will, indoctrinate them as they wish, imo, don’t bother with experience or smart folks with high brain power, it won’t serve you for the long term, we cannot be brainwashed. GLTU all!! Grass can be greener on the other side and you may even be happier, I certainly am, FINALLY!!

@ad Yeah, Optum owned clinics bill at the high end for reimbursement. They also required people to break up their visits for treatment. For instance if you have multiple injuries from one event, they make you come back for each bodily injury which means more reimbursement for them.

Stuff like: "No MRI until you first have an X-ray." So the insured is stuck with two co-pays and two appointments.

Same industry, even more comfortable, the hunt was not difficult, but I’m hearing it is difficult in some areas.

What is your new salary and what was your Optum salary? What was the job hunt like? Did you stay in the same industry?
