@sp just STFU!
@qt lots of folks confused and wanting more info. Change is always tough and a total reorg is even harder. Stay the course, they are still working things, be patient, I know that it’s hard to do in the moment but it will all settle down at some point. This too shall pass!
Wish everyone the best
Got a 2 year transitional role with a title i asked for? This whole thing is so confusing.
@p4 yep! Nearly all jobs going to India. Which means all the folks on Indian visas also go home. It’s just way cheaper to work over there and have a satellite office in USA with a few folks
@OP over next 3 years, CVX will shift hundreds of jobs to India and other service centers in low cost countries. Virtually all jobs except in the plant or on the rig jobs will be gone from high cost countries and states (like CA). Work from home during COVID proved you can work from India also.
@ng not sure if it was AI, but it’s pretty obvious they didn’t look at our profiles or talk to our leaders about us like they claimed they did. They would have had better results if they just flipped a coin or drew names out of a hat….
@ng : Chevron is not clueless…
It goes beyond. It’s evil, it’s rotten, it’s a dysfunctional cult of maggots
So are there any details that can be provided on the claim that bulk staffing placements and decisions were performed by AI, or at least partially by AI? Outright cuts aside, there are multiple moves and transfers that no rational human could make.
Or is Chevron really just that clueless…
How is the GOM team? Was anyone remaining?
@he well it is the absolute worst time in the industry to be an expat. Especially when working in an unconventional play when the company already has extensive expertise and international exposure to shale plays.
Almost, if not all expats were cut from the Bakken. Blatant targeting.
Otherwise it looks like they gave a chimp a crayon at Chevron and told them to fill in some pre-made boxes. Maybe 2-3 performance decisions but it’s mostly just poking at a board blindfolded.
Sounds like Bakken could be cut more to help w FCF.
@fe Bakken at around 200k boe not making but a small profit. CVX will cut costs and people to see if they can make it cash flow like it should, will be a few years if at all before they try to sell.
@et Better they cut big now than later if they were going to do it. They can always staff back up with lower salaried folks.
@cw In three years net Guyana will exceed CVX net GOM production. Sounds like an important revenue stream to keep an eye on. It is 6 mega projects with more potential. Given your head count for 1 non- opp project, seems close to appropriately staffed to me.
Do you think cvx will sell the Bakken?
@cw I know I know, and I'm not exaggerating. It's kind of absurd and even more so that they all went over (in this first pass). I've worked other companies, I try to explain that this is highly unusual for a nonop project.
@bg 100 Hess employees working Guyana??? Both CVX and XOM allow the operator to operate, so Gorgon has maybe 10 people from XOM and Shell overseeing the venture. XOM/Shell North Sea venture where Shell operated, XOM had fewer than 50 personnel with dozens of fields, XOM/Shell dutch venture had only a handful of XOM personnel for 4 billion/D of gas production. CVX can oversee XOM Guyana operation with 1 manager, 1 senior Res engineer, 1 driller, 1 subsurface and 2 project (surf/FPSO) and a couple accounts , a commercial person and a lawyer and 1 admin (10 to 12 people at most), plus a couple oil traders.
@bc i got a transition role so I must be dead wood. Get bent
Lots of good folks got axed. Engineers with less than 5 years of experience got sla-ghtered in Bakken.
Early career engineers were hit hard in North Dakota. I can’t think of one of my early career peers offered a permanent role.
The Bakken wasn’t too hard hit. Lot, and I mean a lot of confusion on titles and roles. The nameless org chart that’s incoming tomorrow or Wednesday will hopefully add clarity.
A transitional role of almost a year is not that bad. When is the last day for executives?
@bg any word on the bakken folks?
Guyana G&G was nearly 100% "lift and shift". GOM G&G Exploration not so much; so far I have heard of 10 let go, 5 with offers, and haven't heard on the other 2 or 3. New Ventures hacked. Ops also took a beating. Heavily weighted to age 50+ ($$) for transitional roles or laid off.
If Noble is any indication, the Guyana people are not safe next time Chevron reorgs, which will definitely be 2026 after they settle in. They ain't keeping 100 people for an NOJV project....
It's a sh!tshow at CVX right now. Not like we are joining a stable company. Not looking forward to this, might be a blessing in disguise to have gotten ousted.
@bb from what i have heard, solid performers were retained and deadwood was cut
@ba how are the geos and engineers … hearing mixed information from my group
How did the technical functions fare?
I had submitted an EOI, but I'll be here till end of June. I'm ok with it.
@az Revenue Accounting - ND, GOA, Guyana - almost the entire Revenue dept being kept on through 06/2026.
@aw what asset/department is that?
Finally got my call. My "transitional role will end 06/30/2026." Sounds like most of my department (including our senior managers and director) are working through June '26.
Calls are coming in across the company
@a7 The 575 DOES include transitional roles & EOIs. That's been confirmed.
Nothing yet. We were told on Friday calls would start at 8:30am. If you get a call from Hess mgmt and Hess HR on Teams, then you're out Sep. 26th. If you get a call on personal phone from CVX mgmt/CVX HR, then you're at least transitional. Conflicting rumors on whether the 575 includes transitional or not.
