Thread regarding Solventum layoffs

No layoffs planned. Only PIPs

There are no layoffs planned until at least 2028.
Leadership will be implementing performance improvement plans as a standard practice for under performers.
There is no severance for people let go following PIP. Regardless of what your manager tells you.

Not sure who you are, but you're clearly not in the know. Another round just happened.

Unless Solventum diverges drastically from 3M, any increase in performance plans would be dreadful for managers. Why do you think so few got fired at 3M? The overhead of implementing a FULL YEAR plan, the crazy amount of extra check-ins/1:1s, and rigorous documentation would be crippling.

While this would not be surprising at all from a cost-cutting standpoint ("let's shed even more salary and pile on the work to those remaining while not calling it layoffs"), it strikes me as a legal and productivity nightmare in handing out a ton of 1's and 2's due to the work required.

Good luck trying to avoid severance packages unless you fire for cause and have a strong case (expense report fraud, etc.).

All it takes is for 1 in 10 to win a lawsuit in cost for millions to make a company realize severance packages and insurance policies.
