Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Show or hands, who have stop their ESPP?

With no look back feature, are we giving Intel a 0% loan?

This whole thread is kind of pointless and d-mb.

ESPP and RSU are there to be sold when they vest.

There have been times when someone did well by holding them, and a lot of times when it made little sense to hold them.

The stock is highly volatile, which makes it a nice trade. Someday it may settle down, if the current efforts result in a more stable financial situation and consistent growth or at least better control on costs. That would probably make the stock boring.

Besides, this is not a stock board.

Stopped ESPP contributions, holding about 2400 shares. Using that extra money to pay down some credit card debt. Will then increase my 401k contributions.
In the past, I could afford to pitch into ESPP, but it took YEARS until it was worth something.

@b9
AMD was at 75 around April 4….now it’s at 175.00
It’s a better company and a much better investment

I stopped late last year to give myself a bump in pay. The extra is going into paying off bills. Much better use.

Stock trolls are getting desperate when they start sweating ESPP, or RSU for that matter.

The biggest impact either has is to cause a retest in the few days after virtually every earnings call.

Is there a sell all button?

Or do you have to sell individually?

Haven’t sold any espp for last 6 years.

Face it, the trolls on this site wish that Intel did not exist and the stock was $0.

They consist of fab rejects and one or more psychos.

Any question which is answered will just prompt another question.

@ch @a8 The Feb 2025 buy price was 22.01, sell price 25.06. Now, I've been told I must not be smart since I work at Intel but I think that's almost a 14% gain. Now for taxes, it'll vary by person but if you're in the 22% bracket for fed and 9% for state, you still end up with a 9.5% return. Feel free to check my numbers.

@af a8 here. You are right. It didnt wipe out the entire 15%. It only neutered about 2/3 of it. I was exaggerating a bit my bad. Regardless, my point is quick sales are not quick. Last time i stood and watched my 15% gain deteriorate hour by hour while my quick sale was stuck in sale pending. This took an entire day for it too execute and i could not halt it. Never again.

@a8 It would have to fall 15% to wipe out your discount. You can find all the data going back decades and as far as I can tell this has never happened. As far as OP saying the money is a loan to intel, this isn't true. The shares are bought and sold on the secondary market, Intel doesn't get anything.

I don't believe that OP is very good with finances.

Even with 15% discount you’re still going to have to pay the short term capital gains tax on it, so it’s actually less, and like someone else mentioned. By the time it sells the price will have tanked so you’re looking at less of a gain. I guess 5% gain worth it to some? But then it usually bounces hard out of nowhere.

I haven’t sold any of my ESPP for the last 5 years.

Is there an easier way to sell all vs going through each date and putting in the sell order?

I don’t plan on changing anything though. We’ll get our whale customer soon and finally see some light at the end of the long tunnel.

We’re still showing positive technical analysis as long as we don’t fall any further

Why stop?
I have never lost money if I sold fairly quickly (not the quicksale) and as someone else pointed out, usually beat the market.

ESPP is still a no brainer. How the company stock performs is irrelevant since it's purchased at market value with a 15% discount and sold a few days later. You're all but guaranteed to make >10-15% in a 6 month period. Compare that with the S&P500. Over the last 6 months, it's up 5%.

@a8 Why are you lying? The stock did drop after the buy, but if you did the quick-sell, you still made money. I could look up the exact amount since it is well documented but that's be a waste of my time.

I am this period but it will be my last. The other thing i learned the hardway last period is quick sale isnt so quick. By the time they got around to executing my trade is was the next day and it whiped out my entire discount. I tried to stop the pending sale even called etrade and they said controll of this is with your company. Guess they sell when they damn well please. So I am done with ESPP...
