Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What happens after Sep 1?

Even after all the RTO policies were rolled out, there are still quite a few people who remain fully remote. Some have silent manager support, and some are just stuck in a gray area. If anyone has been officially approved to stay remote, or has been contacted or told something directly, please share.

I have been hearing more and more "fully remote" people, tagged as such in Workday, are being told to move or quit.

@15a 9/1 is just like 9/11 except for the loss of some office buildings.

Oh, the humanity.

LBT’s stated strategy:

  1. Dinner with friends/customers where a literal child gives us business advice.
  2. Layoffs
  3. More dinner with friends/customers.
  4. RTO
  5. Even more dinner with friends/customers.
  6. ????
  7. Profit (for ELT, BoD, and whale investors)

A guy on my team (G9/10) moved to a state without ann Intel campus over COVID. He isn’t coming back. And he isn’t losing his job.

It'll be Hunger Games for a cube.
As it is now, conference rooms are far more difficult to book then a month ago.
And lots of folks using the class cubes as offices.

LBT reminds me of the guy on The Consultant, who announces at 9am that anyone not back in the office by noon is fired.

What happens the next day does not matter to them.

Get approval asap to work remotely or expect that you will be asked to move or quit. No severance.

@OP I got approved to stay fully remote past September 1st this week. Not holding out much hope that I will be an employee at the end of Q4.

OP, ask your manager. If your job is important to you than be proactive. The company is going to get to 75k employees by the end of this year. They want you to not show up on site on 9/2 (9/1 is the Labor Day holiday in the US) so they can fire you for cause.
