Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I don’t even feel relieved

I’ve gone numb. I do need to pay bills, and I do need the job. But they’ve kept us in a constant state of anxiety for so long that I’ve stopped caring. Leadership made sure the work is mind-numbing, the workload overwhelming, and the policies crude and cruel - so much so that we all feel defeated and secretly hope to be laid off.

@OP Though there is stress be glad you have a job. Unemployment doesn't last long. You might find yourself paying for Obama care to cover PCP visits and meds but there is no dental on the plan for those with zero income. Also, there is nothing like realizing your SSI will be lowered while your income average drops and no 401k contributions. Then there is the paperwork you might have to fill out to lower your utilities and they want almost zero savings to qualify though you still have a mortgage.

The next reality is the rising cost of essential services we all need such as: mobile phone plans, car insurance, property taxes, entertainment, food, etc. It's gone up, up, up.

OP I 100% agree and feel the exact same way, it’s sad many of us do.

I don't remember typing this! I empathize with you completely. I do the minimum to get by. Something I feel companies like this choose to ignore is how much better their outcomes could be if they treated us with dignity. Would they have countless employees across all departments and teams doing the absolute smallest they could each day to not get fired? No! They could get buy-in, something that will never happen otherwise.
