If Intel were to go under, sure. But based on what we heard today, how realistic is it that severance could actually be taken off the table in the near future? I’ll admit, I’m one of those who regrets not taking the package and leaving earlier, when there were still some opportunities out there. But hindsight is always clearer. It’s not easy to know the right move in real time.

@OP Severance is mostly a risk if you are married to Lorena Bobbit.
Even posting about it attracts her attention (Lorena suddenly does a sideways eyes glance).
Severance will always be on the line. The old thinking of caring about the employee are long since gone.
Last year, I believe, was the pinnacle. Where they went back and gave earlier retirees the same ERP they gave later ones.
You won't ever see that again. Too cutthroat now.
CEO and all c level pay package has to be drastically cut first if they intend to save the company. prove it with their actions lol
Expect the company to avoid severance, through performance management, badge flipping and asset sales.
The current layoffs pretty much are as far as the company could go without selling off fabs and products, and outsourcing will take some time.
The company likely needs to aim to be about 40k employees, with about half of the current manufacturing structure. Products will become more focused as well.
Where there is severance, expect that to become more limited. You may never again see VSP or ERP, at least until the company finds a way to grow again.
@a6 specifically what would these lawsuits be based on? Employment is at will.
severance will stay the same at least for 2025. they might try lowering it later but then they run the risk of large lawsuits. Intel will be profitable in 2026 with the all the cuts
More likely all the stock acceleration for the old timers when they leave will get eliminated. Most other companies dont offer this for retirees so little chance of lawsuit.
I think there’s a very low chance that severance will change this year
OP where do you think that the money for severance comes from? Intel has been losing billions. Eventually it has to stop.
