Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Are you getting actionable development items during PA feedback?

Question - are people getting actionable development items during their performance assessment feedback? Or is it corporate lingo and random buzz words that are high level, vague and not useful?

EMPCo employee here. I actually received me PA today. Dropped from VG down to good after literally producing more than double my output last year. Its same sht every year. We need more out of you but for a bullsht 3.7% raise. Feedback was generic and not actionable what so ever. Its all a dam game you have to play. It all comes to how long does you want to play.

As a supervisor I'll read your two minute narrative to your face before the meeting. Matter of face I will have asked you write it for me and we refine it together. No transparency my a-s.

There is no actionable feedback, the whole process is highly subjective and perception based. If your supervisor doesnt fight for you, which is the case most of the time because he or she is just saving his a-s he wants to rank high himself, he will sacrifice you. Also your entire year of effort and accomplishments is boiled down to 2min of whatever gibberish your supervisor says. If your supervisor didnt prepare enough which is also the case most of the time, then its again a sh-t show. Further, there is no transparency on what was presented and what was the discussion on your performance - only a blackbox output of the result which is given to you as "take it or leave it". How can this be motivating?

No, don’t expect to get actionable feedback from your PA. If you are 50+ and not sponsored, or you are viewed as a roadblock to your supervisor path to advancement, then your ranking is pre-determined. After I received my mysterious NI, supervisor never brought it up again. My ExxonMobil supervisors has all been 10 to 15 years younger than me and has no experience managing people nor are they SME. A bit ludicrous for them to provide advice on these matters. HR was no help at all. They are there to protect the company and not you. First of all, they don’t answer the phone when you try to reach them to report ethics or harassment issues. They just send you a form to absolve them of responsibilities. This is a terrible company to work for. I resigned 2 years ago because I can’t stand the toxic environment. Wish I done it sooner.

Many on PIP stretch it out for more than a year, drawing a paycheck while job hunting, claiming stress or anxiety disorders, etc.

I am not getting anything and I am on pip. My stupivisor is dragging a-s and hr is no help at all. I emailed both these a holes and said it's my career on the line here. It is like they are purposely doing nothing to sabotage me. I think they are forcing me out.

If it is not loaded with acronyms then it is not worth the paper it is printed on.

You need to optimize collaborative innovation to support synergies and add value across our organization. What don't you get about that? Let's circle back to this once I'm back from vacation.
