WFH Promises vs Layoff Fears

Saw someone say top performers will still be allowed to WFH. That would be great but the silence from my director on RTO expectations is making me pretty nervous.

I'm prepared to relocate if needed. I just don't want to get laid off for not showing up when no one's even communicated the plan.

@OP the other thing I was told is exceptions to remote work in foundry will be very rare. Maybe Like if you happen to be one of the overpaid overrated executives Lip Bu just hired lol

@OP All remote work in foundry is going away. Definite decision made. Timelines not certain. Rumors say notifications start in August. Employees currently working remotely will be offered relocation or will need to leave. Not certain if you’ll be given a package if you refuse relocation. That may depend on legal direction in the different countries if they are allowed to lay you off without a package for refusing to relocate.

I'm expecting OP to RTO, just so security can then perp walk him out the door.

OP if you are remote you are going to be layed off, that is the next stage. Even if you are at a site there is a reasonable chance you will be layed off. If you move to a site they will not guarantee that you will not be layed off.

I don't believe OP realizes he is going to be laid off anyway.
