@cd AI is the new ERP, full of promise..and risk.

A few companies went bankrupt trying to implement ERP, it so disrupted their business.

Companies are all chomping at the bit to displace workers with AI, and those that move too fast may find themselves rehiring or going bankrupt if they don't course correct fast enough.

Much like ERP, there is a promise of an enterprise solution which is going to enable a more seamless, efficient and productive company, replacing workers with automation.

The reality is that ERP (and AI) take tremendous resources and ultimately did not do much for headcount. Even the ability to get efficiency and productivity proved elusive.

Turns out that automating business processes is a highly customized thing and not easily replicated by programming.

More likely at the moment is that AI will take over some routine tasks, and will require safeguards to prevent it from doing stupid things, limiting the ability of AI to take over most of the workflow.

Some will be displaced but most will (at best) have just another tool to help get the work done.

@OP Intels strategy to compete with AI salaries is to outsource to companies that have proven they can offer AI at a reasonable cost, as much as the company might like to throw a few billion at a couple of 23 year olds.

AI is a race to the bottom and a lot of companies seem to be in a big hurry to get there.

1M comp packages are normal for seasoned AI engineers.

These are average AI people with experience.
Ask around.

Those salaries are for very specific people and not the average employee. You need to get a clue.
