Congratulations on merger with CVX. Also, congratulations to the 575 that wlll get a golden handshake (bronze handshake, tin handshake...or simple pat of the back and a thank you/goodbye/good riddance). John Hess made out like a bandit and Sc--wed 575 employees in the first tranche of layoffs. He knew of the layoffs because it was part of the value negotiation to get a bigger merger premium. John Hess was the only winner.

CVX has 4 phases in their restructure plan..and HEss employees are unknown, so many will be "left standing" in future tranches of layoffs.

CVX philosphy of non-operated management is "let the operator do his job...so minimum oversight. For example, XOM has only 15 people working with CVX on Tenghiz and fewer than 10 on Gorgon asset. Guyana JV oversight will be cut in future tranches once the trusted VPs of Wirth are put into the Guyana oversight, replacing seasoned HEss employees and nearly all lower and middle management. G&G will be hammered and HR and accounting will be hammered. A few veterans with high potential will service phase 2, Phase 3 and phase 4 layoffs over next 2 years. Dust off your resume now if you are ranked in bottom half of the combined CVX/Hess ranking and no one in CVX knows you (you are not a good ol boy)
