Strong indications about 7/24.

We'll see what happens. Good luck all.

Optum India just thanked everyone on picking them to lead the AI charge for America. So who do you think will be doing your job.

I have always felt that naming names of people on boards like this is not ethical. Even if the people I'd name aren't liked , they are still individuals and I simply dont do that.
As for being prepared, every single one of us should be prepared to manage our lives through events both good and bad.

@f0, @ec can you name the vp or slt under whom your org rolls upto. It would help us be prepared.

I have no concern about whether you choose to take me seriously or not. I have provided the information that I know in all of my posts. I don't make stuff up, I simply share what I know. I'm a gl30 in OI and shared that info last week. My wife is a gl30 in OT and was instructed to provide two names from her group to be laid off. Yesterday she was brought into a meeting where they ran down the HR rules for conducting the event. I'd be curious to hear what the information is that you seek?

It’s obvious which are the real ones and which aren’t. First, when there are real big ones coming generally a lot of people begin posting beforehand. That hasn’t been the case in July. I’m sure there are small ones happening all the time but if you provide no info, it’s hard to take you seriously.

@dn Layoffs boost financials when UHG growth depends on buying customers. We do an acquisition, add products to our portfolio, add clients who specifically chose a competitor to our rolodex... and then lay off people doing the thing (except for 32+ who get to stay)

Layoffs reduce cost while boosting revenue looking forward and for sure help financials. When UHC is failing steve can say layoffs and divestitures will help shore up margin long enough to get a democrat president that will restore social program spending.

oh and we created VBC to administer Single Payer when that happens and we can keep paying bloated SLT/ELT salaries, plus let us handle single payer and we get rid of other insurance companies saving spend on hundreds of c-suites.

Layoffs dont boost any financials, they are very expensive write offs. It's about one thing and one thing only... Sandeep's commitment to offshore 70% of Optum. The increase in speed is his 100x nonsense.

I agree. In my 18 years here and experiencing all the RIF's I've never seen a back to back before. They happen all the time and as we know, unless you are in an impacted division or have a wide network of people, you wouldn't necessarily know about them.
This is however not the norm for RIFs and I hope it isn't a harbinger of an escalation in layoffs. Sadly I do think it is.

@dh
I have not heard of OF being impacted. I'm in OT and only know about ours tomorrow. Last week the 312 individuals were in OI and ESRO.

Anyone hear anything if Optum Financial will be impacted?

People in CnS should've started looking for new roles when the BBB news started trickling out.
MnR relatively better off than CnS. EnI safest bet in uhc.

I wish you were right. Last week was Optum Insight and security. This week will be Optum Tech. I just left a meeting where an HR rep provided guidelines for RIF'ing to those of us that hadn't done it before. Be concise, no small talk, provide support info, don't say you are sorry etc.

The news is reporting they will miss their earning report with losses. So probably there will be a last didge effort to beef those up. Fastest way is to layoff.

Why would they do layoffs a week after doing so? I think there is some stirring going on!

I’ve heard the same. The fact that we’ve had layoffs two weeks in a row is deeply concerning.

Here we go again. Just last week it was 7/17. When is it people? I’m starting to think these dates are randomly chosen and people post as scare tactics. I’m tired of being scared every single week about getting laid off. If it happens there is nothing we can do about it. In the meantime we can apply for other jobs. Please don’t report these layoff days unless you are certain and heard from a reputable source.
