Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Isn't attrition enough?

Many, many folks are leaving for greener pastures, so I can't understand why we still need layoffs. Stop backfilling positions, and the headcount will reduce on its own. What am I missing here that this is not being done?

@a2 The people getting the high salaries have been here longer and should in theory have more domain knowledge to manage an application. Granted, there's plenty of people holding onto prestigious titles who do almost nothing, but why risk losing actual talent? We could get rid of 90% of offshore and nothing would change for the worse.

They are laying off in the USA and replacing with offshore workers. In addition they go by state to try laying off too many in one state, thereby avoiding the Warn Act.

@OP Unfortunately, and certainly no disrespect meant, but maybe the "wrong" people are leaving.. If the layoffs are being done to reduce salaries, and the folks quitting are not highly paid, then it may not help the situation if they quit. Until you really know what the criteria is that they are using to layoff, it won't make much sense. I get it... Went through the layoff of Advocate in April and was spared. I still can't make heads or tails of why they laid off who they did..
