Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Is quarterly connect necessary?

Is a quarterly connect necessary? None of my clients and previous employers implemented it. What benefits does it bring to our company? So far, it hasn't added value to our team and seems to create unnecessary manager touchpoints that risk alienating employees.

Pointless exercise. My senior director says we can't travel, yet he will happily get onto a flight for the opening of a letter. Everytime I call him he is off travelling somewhere.

Do now he has hone and put an extra person in between himself and the SE community because he has openly said he doesn't want to deal with complaints. So why even bother with a connect

My quarterly connect lasted maybe 15 minutes every quarter and was to check a box to say it was completed...it might have had good intentions but never amounted to anything but a waste of time...

They are meant to progress ones career. But we all know there is zero career expansion here. It's for the manager to feel like they are doing something worthwhile

It's always been a waste of time IMHO. I guess it keeps the HR people busy. What else would they do?

But what would all the managers do if there were no quarterly connect? How woud they know what's going on?

Pointless and unnecessary. There is no career or skill growth at Teradata so why bother?

Quarterly connects are for HR. They love to spend millions of dollars and add unnecessary work to feel “relevant.”
