Hey Mr. LOL.....Some of us can afford to take a year off. The only reason I haven't pulled the plug is not wanting to leave severance on the table.

Everyone should be interviewing now. Getting laid off in say December then getting a few months of severance in a dog labor market means you are sc--wed macro-level. There are still companies hiring… for now… but I would never ever recommend someone stay at a job they are confident they will lose just for severance with the looming cuts to Medicaid, tarrifs, etc.

3 months of paid severance followed by a half year making your state’s meager unemployment cap, then being desperately hooked into a substantial paycut is what ends up happening far too often. Just look at LinkedIn of those cut in 2008 or 2022.
