I’ve been here long enough to remember when things weren’t great, but at least they weren’t this bad. Over the years, the fear and paranoia have gotten worse, the PIPs more random, and the only real “skill” that gets rewarded is staying close to the right people. Innovation? Please. It’s survival mode now. Honestly, if I ever end up at a healthy company again, I might need training just to adjust.

This company only survives because there is so much money in oil.
If it weren’t for the retirement package the majority of productive employees would have left years ago.
It’s a shame that things have evolved to the point where we find ourselves at. It could be so much better.
Unfortunately you are correct. It is pretty bad now. People aren’t working well in a team environment. It can be a hostile environment.
Exxon will ruin you because you will get used to the dysfunction and believe it is normal. It is not and it is better at other companies. Exxon is a place where hard work is not rewarded and kiss ing a ss is. One company that exxon acquired from california was dysfunctional and merged into dysfunctional exxon. This has created a ultimate dysfunctional group. I was like two black holes merging together. I have never seen such a f ed up company in my career. It is a miracle that exxon makes money and survives.
