Thread regarding Optum layoffs

How many layoffs do we need, really?

How many people have to be pushed out? How many of us have to suffer through mental and physical deterioration before someone finally says it: this company is poorly managed, and real people are paying the price? It’s not just us, our clients are affected too.

What’s the point of all this? It's absolutely possible to reward shareholders and have a satisfied, high-quality workforce that meets client needs. So why keep gutting the very people who make it all work?

@me Not all Medicare providers are offshoring and the others have less corporate drama and dishonesty.

All Medicare plans do the same thing so where are you going to run ? Advantage or trad plans any brand they all offshore to india or philipines. With the gravy train of medicaid drying up and more scrutiny of medicare the margins are gonna be mighty thin going forward.

@a9 This is why my parents are no longer using UHG for their Medicare. They worked hard their entire life, paid all their taxes. Also there are 3 generations of family who has served this country fighting to preserve America.

We are not here to give hard earned SSI and their pensions to offshore people while the executives collected more annually than the 3 generations of great grandparents, grandparents and parents earned collectively.

For the record my family is blended by Native American and immigrants. It's not ok to layoff America citizens as an excuse for saving money due to mismanagement of the capital and operations budget. Executive leadership needs to explain why the operations budget is such a mess and go through serious org/dev training.

I haven’t interviewed a non H1B in over 10 years. There are unspoken rules. Say anything different and you are the problem.

The stock is back to 2017 levels. That is horrible for a dow 30. They will cut to the bone if they have to. The entire sector is trash according to wall st right now. I don't think most employees realize how bad things are.

I know this is a conspiracy but I believe they are trying to offshore all software engineers and engineering support roles. Many orgs have a mandatory 65% rule to hire offshore.

Not a conspiracy at all. It’s an accurate depiction of the current environment. In our organization it’s impossible to hire an onshore FTE. Completely forbidden. You have to beg and plead to even get an onshore contractor.

We are seeing this in the industry as a whole. From what people tell me this comes in phases and usually gets reverted back in a few years after their productivity numbers plummet.
