Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any rumours about layoffs in Poland?

Even though we are cheap like sh-t we should expect layoffs too. Anyone knows when and under what conditions?

However it works out it can't be as bad as when Intel Germany fired all those people.

If you see fresh trenches, stop quiet quitting and walk away.

Poczekaj and layoffs will come.
Employee reps must negotiate with Intel first like the did the last time.
And no, Poland is not that much expensive than India.

@es I don't know the numbers, but “much cheaper” is not true for at least a couple of years. Yes, engineers in India are cheaper than in Poland, but not much. It's more like 15-20% cheaper , not 70%.

When people say

BTW India is much cheaper than Poland.

What kind of specific numbers are we talking about?
Anyone knows rate numbers?

@OP The only rumor I heard was something about replacing a lightbulb at Intel, but that's not important right now.

@ay
Maybe India is cheaper than Poland. I don't know. But last time only Poland and Costa Rica were restricted from voluntary leaves as particilarly cheap locations. India was not as AFAIK.

@a9 IGK is quite big (plus some small number of employees in Warsaw I guess), I don't know figure but my rough estimate would be around 2.5k. And don't worry, layoffs here are inevitable, they are just slightly delayed because of more complex EU/local regulations.
