Palestine Car Shop

It's gone. Drove by today and 99% of the buildings and structures are dismantled. That did not take long for UP to bulldoze this place. Does anyone know what's going on? As far as I know, the US Supreme Court has not taken the case yet on appeal. It's sad looking at the facility that was my livelihood and a pillar of historic Palestine. Good by ole friend.

They need to do LATC in LA on the Los Angeles River, move everything to Montclair and Dolores and sell the land to LA city for the Olympics.

They should change the flag on the sides of the locomotive to a roll of toilet paper. At least that would make more sense and be way more appropriate for the company.

The icon of the town is the box car, so what do they change it to, a pepper 🌶 or weather balloon 🎈?

DeSoto probably is next. Most of the cars they used to work are gone now and were told they won’t be back. Management operates the place like it’s on the verge of bankruptcy, never enough money for things like OT, safety dinners, properly repair equipment or even hiring people to replace the ones that quit or retire. The number of quitters is larger than the number of retirees. Employee morale is in the dumps too.

Wouldn’t surprise me if TTX or another car repair company takes the place over. Wouldn’t take much to reroute all defective cars back there again. Then close DeSoto.
