@jn Same, read from a paper looking down, no eye contact, and then immediately signed off. I strongly urge everyone to either not work there or look for something else if you are as there is zero job security there.

@287 I was told my severance was standard for a company of that size - 2 weeks of pay for every year + prorated bonus. They also provided career transition services.

@jn was your severance package decent? And were you allowed to collect unemployment also?

Yeah it happened all of a sudden and APAC also got hit. Manager scheduled catchup and when HR entered I knew I was in a world of hurt. Cant say I didn't see this coming since the management had announced their own efficiency efforts but was told by mid management the redundancies, as far as they were aware, were over. My department is still hiring for replacements too. Got to wonder just how much savings there can be.

Yep, that's how they do it. Quick and cold and brutally impersonal. Probably the same way methodology used to create the "hit" list of victims. It's so random it left me wondering why me; I'm leading my team, I'm out there doing the job I was asked to do, what didn't I do. Then there's the unspoken rules, like you can be "remote," your job is remote but we like people who are in the office at the monthly happy hour. Yet there's still pretense about the employee statisfaction survey.
None of that matters, we have to take our experience, insights and skills and go to a better team.

I was laid off on 7/16! I'm based in the U.S. and was an Assistant Director in Analytics and Modeling (MA). It felt like they were firing me but they said it was company wide layoffs so I've been looking for information on how many people were also laid off. The way they did it was pretty cold. A manager scheduled a "catch-up" and when I joined he didn't even look at me. He read from a prompt and quickly handed it off to HR. I wasn't allowed to message anyone or even save my work. I was told to log off immediately after the call or else I wouldn't get my severance package.
