Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell, Mental Health, and the Cost of Corporate Control

Dell is wrecking people’s mental health. It’s not the job, it’s the fear: reorgs with no warning, RTO used as a control tactic, and performance “feedback” that’s just a slow push to the door. People are anxious, exhausted, and pretending everything’s fine while leadership rolls out another pre-recorded video about “transformation.” No one feels safe. And when you don’t feel safe, your mind pays the price.

Telco is making $. We grew more than any other BU last year by %. Granted we don't make billions like servers do but the TSB growth is a larger % than other BUs across Dell.

Yes JC wants the billion $ he invested in Telco back and he wants it soon but TSB is growing... If the trend continues it will be a bright spot in the portfolio in a couple of years.

Corporate performance also pays the price. People are quiet quitting in droves or actively resisting management directives. No new software is one that is a serious joke. While they’re trying to cut costs and want everyone to quit or sit idle and wait for layoffs, every team and individual is working on some far fetched and totally unsanctioned AI initiative to improve their resume. And the execs are all running around collecting 20+ and stabbing each other in the back over who gets which Titanic deck chair.

Since mandatory RTO my BP is up 20 points.

I wonder if they will the self health reporting this fall. It would b interesting to see the mental health results. Although, those are not publicly reported

@dn I wonder what happened to the Telco push or the Great PC Refresh.
We used to call that vaporware

And you have to love Jenn's Tell Dell results video. Basically, we're just pawns in the game and it's all about 'balance' during this game of 'change'. In short though, if your balance is out of whack, use the EAP to help you and make sure to follow the upcoming focus on nutritional balance. Just frigging tone deaf to what's really happening out here. The rank and file are TIRED of the layoffs and constant pivoting to stuff that's not making money, but sounds cool, like subscriptions, Telco and other underperforming products. Every company changes over time, but jettisoning products with high margins (think EMC's offerings) in pursuit of low margin stuff like AI servers is insanity. We look like we're making money because we're throwing humans overboard while focusing on billion dollar AI server deals. When the AI crash comes, and it will, the best employees will be former employees long before that crash.

My manager recently made a comnent about my "average numbers" I responded with "my work reflects my average salary". Dont let it get to you, dont let them play games, if so play along and keep putting the ball in their court.
