How the he-l does exxon expect to motivate us?

Hiw does this dysfunctional hel hole expect we tge workers ti work harder for them. I was given no raise for the last 2 years and my ranking has constantly dropped. I was told I was above my pay band and would not recieve a raise until I was below it. My lovely manager told me that expectations were high for me and I had to put in more hours than the youngsters. I told said manager to put it in a email which was refused. I was put in nsi this year and I am nre. I have one year to go until the magic day. I am being placed on a counseling plan and am told to improve. The reasons for my nsi were vauge. Communication with the hotshot micromanaging engineer was one area for improvement. I have no reason to work harder or do anything more. I am going to cruise it for the next year. I was told I was paid highly and that should be my motivation to work harder. I have lost all motivation and don't want to do anything for this toxic dysfunctional company.

I see an employee who takes smoke breaks, has a bad attitude and is just an a hole. They hide out in the office and leave early every day. This person is buddies with the supervisors. When ranking comes they are protected by the buddies. They constantly complain they are not paid enough and not promoted. This behavior is the most demotivating part of this circus. When I asked how they work vs myself I was told we were discussing only my case. Total BS dysfunction and unfairness.

With the attention to detail demonstrated in your post, you’re just not XOM material. Heard CVX could be looking…or hooking.

Exxon’s motivational goal is to motivate employees to quit.

Main motivation is to replace every one of us with AI. Another Indian.

Exxon is not a place for talented and diligent people. There is no talent management and no desire to retain any good talent. They are happy with 3rd tier talent who all pretend to be leaders.

Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way my manager can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour. I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

I refuse to work more than 40 to 45 hours a week. I see employees who work 6 to 7 hours a day who were not piped. Everyone else works a straight 40 h o ur week. I will give a little when needed but not excessive time. Once you start exxon will expect it forever.

I am willing to do excellent work but am not given the opportunity. I have asked for more interesting work but it is given to the young ones. I am being underutilized on purpose to force me out. That is why I am cruising.

OP you’re hitting the nail on the head. They want to demotivate folks to want to leave on their own. It’s cheaper for the company when you do. No PDS process, and even better if you’re demotivated and leave prior to vesting of any sort. This is how they’re doing it, by eroding the attractiveness of staying on as an employee it helps then lessen head count. It’s the WAEM go-farward.

If you don’t like it you have the option to leave, it’s pretty simple - probably like you

@a3 if your position cannot be easily replaced by others, your salary should be high.

Company should get rid of NRE program to make every current NRE to actually work for their pay instead of “cruise”. Coming from mid career, making probably half of what NREs make and picking up the slack while they cruise. It’s a simple equation paycheck for work.

How much are you paid? I’m at $131k and constantly working 60+ hours a week. How does your situation compare?
