Ford’s Flaming Recall Follies: Leadership Plays Fiddle While Engineers Burn

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! Gather round for the latest tale from the circus of automotive madness!

So, Ford, bless their hearts, set a new record-high in recalls. Chief Operating Officer Kumar Galhotra and Chief EV, Digital, and Design Officer Doug Field, in a moment reminiscent of a comedy sketch, took to the stage to assure us all that everything's peachy keen.

Meanwhile, behind them, cue the inferno! It's a sight to behold: house burning down, firefighters running amok, and yet, they manage to keep straight faces.

And what's the punchline, you ask? Zero responsibility!

They're playing hot potato with accountability faster than a kangaroo on a trampoline. Now, the blame game begins, and guess who's the target?

HR Karens and Kens are ranking engineers like they're picking teams for dodgeball. LL6 and LL5, you're up next on the chopping block!

Dougie's pink rabbits had a plan, and wouldn't you know it, it's all gone sideways.

Stay tuned, folks. This Ford fiasco promises more twists than a rollercoaster designed by M.C. Escher. It's a comedy of errors, and we're all just waiting to see who gets the pie in the face next!

@ac really? How about when engineers brought in test results that stated a system did not me the standard. Why don't you look in the mirror your CLOWN before you pin blame. Sick and tired of management people never taking accountability for something that was their idea or direction. Grow up and grow a pair. Otherwise shut up.

@aq Very well then. Spin off and COMPLETELY ISOLATE ICE operations from EV operations and let the best one win or just follow your illogical synopsis and shut down ICE completely and put YOU in charge. That way there is only YOU to blame when YOUR perspective comes up short! As I always say, PUT UP or SHUT UP! What's it going to be? Good luck. Or should it be good riddance?

@av Style? Masked grief dressed as satire.

My dealership did a whole cam phaser replacement under warranty when the real problem was a fuel pump ba----g against something under the truck - The noise I originally complained about. That cam fix ruined my truck. Runs like sh*t now and Ford keeps denying that anything is wrong with it. The new Expeditions are way too complicated with software driven transmissions and engines. My 2008 ran for 17 years with very little issues. Ford is failing at so many levels. It’s a shame.

When Fartley kicked the ICE powertrain and vehicle engineers to the curb no knowledge was passed down because EVs are the future. It’s going to get worse not better

@ah It is always best to have a personal philosophy of being an A-- Kicker rather than being an A-- Kisser. Well at least for me! But that takes courage. That is rare nowadays. Pucker up pantywaists if you have ZERO belief in yourself and ZERO integrity.

@ac Shame on those non-GSR that call something "error-proofed" when it allows errors to be made. That is who needs to be FIRED! THEY LIED!

Managers and executives probably did what they were told to do. Increase sales. They did. Unfortunately, the a--holes that told them this forgot to ask for an increase in "conforming unit" sales. Great job? FOOLS!

@ac Sure, blame the person and not the process because it's perfect, right? Leadership should set up the process and iterate, get feedback from the person doing it and adjust. But feedback just falls on deaf ears because leaders don't want to be in the hot seat to stir things up. The GSRs know exactly what the problems are in the process but doesn't have the authority to change so they just play along because they have to deliver.

Truth is, root cause of these recalls lies with the working level GSR employees with their mistakes, misses, and not following the Ford processes that leadership puts forth.
