Worked at the Palo Alto office and was converted to remote. Life is good.

My engineering manager is fully remote. He is a long time HP employee. Hybrid employment at HP is at the discretion of the manager for their employees. Always has been that way for the last 5 years. That includes any CW's under them.
"Those other 2 comments have no clue as to how HP really works."
And this comment makes you a liar since you prove that you have no clue "how HP really works." HP has a hybrid model now based on RTO for the majority of employees. Engineers are no exception. Even job description emphasize the hybrid nature of the work. Only some HR folks are fully remote now.
Same here. Sent home with PC during COVID in 2020 and because I am an "Out Sourced Contract Worker" (there are several types of CW) I was allowed to stay a remote worker and still am. I also know of several others who are also remote workers. Those other 2 comments have no clue as to how HP really works.
Liar…
CW and remote work is a contradiction.
You probably took the other CW’s place who was recently laid off after thinking they were untouchable, and it’s probably just a matter of time before you’re next and the cycle continues.
