There was a time when Dell had superior benefits - PTO, PBA, insurance, etc... - that was far above a lot of companies but, now? EVERY company has the same PTO and insurance. Most people don't gaf about onsite gyms or doctors - though the onsite DR was pretty nice - and now the cafe is literal dogpoop.

Well, they got rid of the gym, the onsite DR, and have a half a-s carfeteria now... Which they are overcharging on as well..

Then you have the RTO bs which, pre-covid was always 3 days IN office and 2 at home. Now it's 5 days IN office? WHY? It's ridiculous that they are only monitoring "badge swipes" as many people just make the commute, swipe the badge and go straight back home lol. I go in 3 days/week and make that 50m drive to swipe my badge, then go home.

I'd LOVE to know why I need to be in the office only to join meetings on TEAMS with people all over the country/world. I'd love to know why out of my ENTIRE 15 person team, only 4 of us are "required" to RTO. Of those 4 people, we live in different states so it's not like I can "collaborate" with them in person lol.. I've met my manager once in the 8 years at Dell. I've met a few of my team members a handful of times but, EVERYTHING is done via TEAMS.

I find the constant bickering about Dell & EMC to be boring and juvenile. Ironic, Kevin Rollins quipped about the Compaq-HP merger that it was like “Tying two rocks together and expecting them to float”. I always thought it was pretty classless for him to say and it probably describes the Dell-EMC acquisition even better.

Looks like a major bug in the bot. So typical for Dell. Can’t even spam with competence.

Poor work environment, no gym, cafeteria su-ks, no onsite doctors, bad coffee, outdated buildings, and no parking

@bc

Now include all the stock splits for orcl, msft, and aapl during that same time.

But, more importantly, we really should be looking at a company's more current performance not from 30y ago.

There is no scenario where I think anyone would take dell's stock over those other companies if a magic Genie came about.

@b9 obviously you don’t know Dell history or anything to do with the concept of stock splits. A $1000 investment in Dell in 1996 would be about $35K today. The stock split every year from ‘95 through ‘99. Twice in ‘98.

I mean, it’s a shell of what it used to be, sh---y leadership, cr-p work environment. But it didn’t get to be as big as it is without a lot of success in the past. If you don’t believe that, why did you ever take a job there?

@b6

yes, i am going to laugh. Here are some numbers for you to chew on. Since you picked 1996:

If you had invested $1,000 in DELL 29 years ago, you would have $9,377 today

If you had invested $1,000 in MSFT 29 years ago, you would have $57,092 today
If you had invested $1,000 in ORCL 29 years ago, you would have $35,377 today
If you had invested $1,000 in AAPL 29 years ago, you would have $1,035,988 today

Even in the best of times, Dell was always a sweatshop. It always could grind people up. But Dell was always growing and so there were ALWAYS opportunities to grow and do new roles. And the stock was a pretty good enticement if you got there early enough.

The problem is that all of the good things seem to have completely vanished. It’s now just the grind with no payoff.

@OP I think you can sum it up with "Being treated like headcount, not humans". If they treated employees like real people, none of the other bs would happen.

Companies that care about employees that don't have surveys that look like this. There are so many things you can reference but number one is the fact that all the employees at Dell feel unwanted, unsupported and lose benefits at an unprecedented rate. I can't think of one thing over the past five years Dale has done for the employees to make things better for them. It feels like a bad relationship that just needs to end.

Doubt leadership just doesn't have what it takes to fix the culture they have created.

It has nothing to do with RTO and everything to do with executive leadership. BS, JC, and PT these clowns need to go.
