My friend for a pat last Friday also given an option to go on PIP for 2 months.
And surprisingly all H1B are spared.

If they let you go and keep all the H1B's, the company will die. H1B's have no clue how our culture is. They are "yes" people, and non-doers, so no work will get done!
they sure are not doing anything different with h1b , they are equally impacted in these terminations, I personally know many h1b who already left the country, but the reality is the jobs are moving out of michigan at much faster rate than expected,,,most new work to CA and rest other work to Brazil, India , Canada , Mexico. This is coming at unexpected scale ,, be prepared to be on call early morning or late evenings if you still survive.
If its at the point you are offered severance, there's no fixing it. You take it and move on. Yes the job market su-ks. But it su-ks more if you have nothing anyone needs. Feel sorry for people coming up with useless drivel in Marketing or PD.
