Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

The interrogations will begin shortly

I’ve been here ten years and still can’t believe how obtuse some in management are. I used to enjoy this job, really and considered it for a long term career path at one time. But today, I received an invitation from someone I had never heard of inviting me to discuss the results of TellDell and how to address them. Management will not be told who said what in the meeting or even who attends. (Doesn’t Teams record that).

It seems the guest list was those most likely to have completed the ‘anonymous’ TellDell survey.
Not sure why I would attend, everything I put anonymously would probably be answered with, “I think you’re the only one who feels that way” or “We can’t address that at this level.”

I worked at dell for over 20 years, before Tell Dell was even implemented, and was brutally honest. Some of my coworker friends would sugarcoat their responses in fear of retribution but I never had any issue. I also never felt leadership took anything negative to heart and made any positive changes. Dell culture died long ago. At one time it really was a wonderful place to work and it is sad to know what it has become.

@ed That won’t work. Management goes by the principle “If no one is complaining then everything is fine. Let’s give ourselves big raises.”

Of course you’re assuming you’ll be here next year… Bwa hahahah

We all should just boycott Tell Dell next year; that is, if we are still here. That drop in participation number should tell them something.

I go hard on the tell dell replies and tell the company exactly what I think in a very negative manner. Been here 17 years, never had it brought up. I think too many people just say nice things to not "get flagged" which skews the results in dells favor. I know I've talked to techs in other countries and they never say anything "bad" in their tell dells. Even when tell dell is mostly negative, they just ignore it anyway. Remember, they can fire us for literally any reason, they don't need a negative tell dell for that.

I 1000% promise you, Tell Dell is NOT "anonymous" like they say it is. That's why I'm always SUPER careful to either be neutral, positive, or negative. As for the comments we can put? I never say anything "bad" or at least not bad enough to get flagged.

These Tell Dell's are not anonymous. Every single person at Dell connects to the VPN and each computer has a unique computer address (Not an IP address, but a literal computer name.) Very easily trackable.

Oh, this person submitted their Tell Dell and was logged in on "date" and has the computer name of "W11dks4sk" and they said xyz! "well, we dont like what they had to say! FLAG THEM for termination!"

Trust me on this one, I happen to have access to info like this and it's VERY easy to see who submitted what, and when.

Some advice to you all who were invited to these meetings.... When asked... its best to NOT to tell the emperor that he has no clothes. Keep your head down and look for a way out of Dell. There are better gigs out there.

Dell reminded me of a pit of venomous snakes. Neither the management was qualified ( I am referring to C level) nor his reports. I am waiting for the Layoff of the real culprits who caused this shipwreck. They are still hiding in the AI org.

I've had access to Tell Dell results in the past and have a little more insight here. The survey data is housed by a third party, and from I understand the only time Dell would try to pinpoint specific people is if there is a threat (violence, su----e). However, YES, a manager could try their best to pinpoint comments to specific people based on writing styles, and, to some point, try to see answers based on location. It's not always doable, but there is the possibility

We've done this for years. I've been assigned to meet with teams as an impartial party and to listen several times. It's a way to let people speak freely about their managers and teams to someone who doesn't knwo who they are, what they do and usually are not even in their org.

Please don't assume they don't know exactly who responded to that survey with what. They SAY they don't, but evidence proves otherwise over the years. But you sound like you have also been around for a while predicting "you're the only one who feels that way" will be their response. I notice they never provided a score for how we feel about Dell tools and processes.....
