FMLA is no protection. The reason for layoff cannot be because in FMLA status. So if thinning the herd they will treat you like everyone else. Or the other method is will save you a layoff spot when you come back from FMLA. Welcome you back and couple days later oh darn bye now

They can call all they want, I"m still not going to answer. What are they gonna do, come to my house? Let them - police will be called and the dogs will be let out.

@aw not true. My coworker was RIF’d while on FMLA. Your job isn’t protected when it’s labeled a RIF

Yes, it is possible to be laid off while on FMLA leave, but the layoff must be for a legitimate, non-discriminatory reason unrelated to the employee's use of FMLA leave

I was notified while at my parent’s funeral. You just can’t make this stuff up. And yes, I did tell the person who called me I was at the funeral but it mattered not.

Not exactly treated with any care or concern.

Does anyone have any real information? The company can't be that good at keeping secrets.

Being on PTO will not delay the notification. The people that are tasked with doing the notification are told to get the message delivered that day no matter what. I suppose you could not answer your phone....

Every day on here is gonna be the big layoff. Boy who cried wolf at this point. If it’s gonna happen it will happen

Burning PTO sitting at home panicking isn’t gonna change it.

I was on vacation and got a call from my manager to tell me I was safe but that 16 of our team was let go. I never even got to say good-bye! Luckily, many of them found roles again but with this American last agenda...I will probably not survive this one.

They called an employee while they were in the hospital to let them know they had been laid off. Trust me, they won’t delay because you call out.

@OP company policy requires management to notify you regardless if you are on PTO.
