Companies aren't going to actually do LRs because of AI.

Companies are going to use AI as the scapegoat for LRs because it's convenient, popular, and helps distract from what the real business issues are.

Amazon is going fully AI Automation. Even their warehouses are using robots to do the heavy and repetitive tasks.

Without growth numbers this estimate is biased but in the abstract with their average tenure for salaried workers of 1.8 years Amazon is likely dumping more than 50% of their staff every year anyway.

To bring perspective to the Cisco side of things, the Google AI indicated the average tech tenure is 3 years, so everyone talking about 6 month packages here over the years is clearly overstaying their welcome.

"will-shock-you" = click bait

There is no verifiable evidence that AWS specifically laid off 40% of its DevOps staff in a single wave in 2025.
Amazon has implemented layoffs related to AI-driven efficiencies, but numbers and scope reported in the referenced article appear exaggerated and are not substantiated by authoritative sources.
The real trend is a gradual, industry-wide shift toward AI-augmented DevOps, not a sudden, specific mass firing as described in the article.

The article says they saw the post on LinkedIn last week, but then they spent a month looking at the tools used. Something doesn't seem correct with this article.
