Fresh Intel layoffs impact almost 2,400 Oregon workers, more cuts expected globally

Intel has moved forward with its latest round of mass layoffs, with job cuts in some states much higher than originally anticipated.

According to a report from The Oregonian, Intel initially informed Oregon workforce officials of plans to cut more than 500 workers in the state. However, the figure has now been raised to 2,392, making it one of the biggest layoff rounds in Oregon’s history, the news outlet reported.

Some other countries may have some small number of notifications still pending but for virtually all groups in the US this is a past event.

Does looks rather light and certainly not 20%, but then the company denied that was the goal, some time ago.

Not to say that outsourcing and asset sales won't take the number to well over 20%, but not gonna happen in this mass event.

Most of those follow on events will barely make the news, as they will be seen as not affecting the operation or prospects for the larger corporation.

But they will lower cost and in the case of the asset sales, should help reduce the level of debt.

Problem with Oregon is no where else to go so employees and managers built a back stabbing culture to keep their jobs at all costs sc--w the company. I have seen new blood in Oregon get completely smothered and played by the old guard to preserve their empires.

Looks like for everyone not Working From Ronler (WFR), this reduction has been little more than the usual few percent change.

In most cases it is driven from the recent review period and skills review, and so got the low performers. I'm sure there are exceptions.

Now we know what LBT meant when he was agitated about employee bloat (besides all those fat technicians). LBT was talking about TD and the Ronler fabs.

NEX, Automotive, Marketing and some groups being set up for outsourcing in the near future all experienced much higher losses, but see if the total for the company even gets above 10,000.

Not nothing, especially for those affected, but not even as big as last Fall.

Ok, shows over folks, everybody move along.
