@g5 yes. Not to the magnitude of Oregon or Arizona because we're a smaller site.

Interesting, I actually took the buyout back in 2002 when I worked at Fab12. There was a buyout the previous year as well...

Field of Dreams Strategy:
"If we build it, they will come."

Intel Strategy:
"If we ramp headcount, we will be able to catch up."

The 2024 number is definitely inflated and not the same # as reported internally.

@OP Dang, headcount went up to 130k after laying off in 2016? That is stupid.

Pat still lives rent-free in some heads I see. LOL

Pat did the bad job to hire 20k-30K more since 2021. This fundamentally caused all the mess now. The 5N4Y (5 nodes in 4 years) is a lie !!! Ann admitted it is a lie, she lied to Pat.

This data is a mixture of apples and oranges... for example, your 2024 number includes Intel corp( ~98K), Intel subsidiaries(~5.9k), and nand (4k). The nand business sale from 2020 had Intel keeping the 4k employees on the books for 5 years. Those 4K permanently dropped out of the Intel overall numbers in late March of this year. The subsidiaries aren't impacted by any of the Intel corp layoffs and reductions. The subsidiary numbers will remain effectively constant unless one or all of them are sold off. The Intel corp numbers have been under 100k since the end of 2024. In Q1 they went down buy ~2k just through attrition. You need to read a few of the financial reports to get all of the details but it is available publicly.

I am convinced that during 2021 - 2024 there was a chunk of 40K plus employees only working 25-30 hrs/wk.

With everything going on with Lip Bu-Tan, I don't see Intel keeping a headcount above 100k past December. And sadly it's looking like the company will be sold off as a whole or parted out because of the id--tic decisions made by greedy shareholder during this CEO & the last CEO.

PSO in 2005 declared a target to hit $70billion in revenues when revenues were like $43billion. That created a surge in hiring as empire builders saw a chance to extend their empires and soon headcount crossed 100k, necessitating SET.

PG, when he joined declared the 5N4 goal. And it triggered the same phenomenon and headcount to 131k. ACT + ACT2, both haven't yet brought headcount to reasonable levels.
