Thread regarding 3M layoffs

This site

There was a time the information on this site was interesting, actually felt like it was an inside scoop to what was to come. Now.. I don’t believe the majority that post on here are actual 3Mers, and if they are we are in serious trouble because there are a mess ton of id--ts who post on this site and BB should get rid of them. Not going to complete your mid year, not complying with RTO.. hiring someone to badge you in/out and the list goes on and on. They pay us you fools.. this is what you call a job. Wanna do it your way, start your own business.

@17a BB is gravely mistaken if he think he can get 1000s to voluntarily quit. The job market is still pretty stagnant (employers may not be firing a lot but they have created a lot of ghost jobs they have no interest in filling right now, maybe later). BB hates the idea of being Minnesota Nice and just offering buyouts. That would cause an exodus of sorts. But he'd probably be asked to take a cut from his cool 20 million per year whilst on his Florida yacht. My advice: wait him out and quiet quit.

@OP
"Wanna do it your way, start your own business."

Thanks for the insight but I will pass. Quitting is just playing into senior leadership's hands. I refuse to positive-reinforce their sh---y decisions.

Instead, I'll stick around. But not as a good-faith, hardworking employee. Nah, I'm what's called a malingerer. Since my in-person attendance is so critical, I'll manage to do that, but not much more.

Work efforts continue to take more and more time, with results of lesser and lesser quality. Key steps are forgotten.
Important questions are deferred, making fixes more time and cost consuming. Miscommunications or misunderstandings are allowed to fester until they are reconciled, generally at crunch time.

All this and more, brought to you by the disgruntled worker. Better find yourself a way to deal with it. I'm not changing despite your super persuasive messaging.

Have fun!

This site has been filled with nonsense for years. Lots of trolls who post inflammatory stuff to get attention and then frantically upvote their own posts and comments. Plenty of rumors from people (trolls? wishful thinkers?) who claim to have the inside scoop on what's gonna be happening (spinoffs, shutdowns, leadership changes, layoffs etc) and yet most of those things somehow never actually occur.

Occasionally there are useful bits of info though.

Thats the reason why BB is handsomely compensated in excess of $20,000,000 last year. Great leadership from him.

The posting volume and quality has declined since it was announced Tireman was "retiring" earlier this year.

His organization clearly had an underground movement of disgruntled (for good reason) 3Mers who shared what he would not share at his staged townhalls.

With him gone, the resistance has no reason to come here and share the truth.

BB is strictly a mercenary who people see through but have little reason to complain because the death of what was 3M into a lot of smaller companies is imminent.

There’s a very simple solution for you then - quit coming to this site!

Alternatively, if they're just trying to exploit the workers as much as possible, why would I not do it back to them?

I only work because I want money.

I'm not here as a favor to Bill Brown, just like he didn't hire me as a favor -- I'm trying to get as much money as possible out of them.

Unless an activity is tied to my paycheck I'm not doing it. And 3M has foolishly decoupled the potential for a raise it promotion from the extra effort they're asking of us.
