Internally I'm hearing there's a tax benefit to close by August 28. It appears that the internal teams closest to the deal are attempting to work towards a formal closure between August 19-28 despite what Tim and others keep saying publicly.
For clarity, the deal isn't done just because the board approved it, it still has to pass anti-trust, FDI, and healthcare approvals from the government.
@dg I bet this is what will be said during the Town Hall on Tuesday 7/15 by Tim.
@cs This buyout promises to be totally different than previous ones we've all heard and read about. I'm expecting job security and prosperity for all the employees that hung in there and helped make Walgreens the great company it is today. Can't wait see what the future holds!
Who cares. If people would look for a better, respective, caring job...rather than staying at a company that cares less about people, has done nothing but bring Walgreen's to a joke of a company that will sell to scavengers because they FAILED.. and live in turmoil nonstop. But Walgreen's hires mostly what other companies won't. They will hire basically anything that applies with a heart beat. Go look at the people they get to apply with what their credentials are..... its beyond pathetic. And that is a fact, not opinion.
I would guess in September. I believe whatever government approval will be quick because of what happened to Rite Aide.
"WBA expects to close the transaction in the third or fourth quarter of calendar year 2025, subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals." -- Tim said on July 11, 2025.
Deal is done. Board approved it yesterday. Titanic 🚢.
