They announced this week that in Cascade 2 only GP roles can be filled by external hires. Every non-GP opening is now strictly internal.
This not only risks further eroding what’s left of our culture with more outside GPs, but also severely constrains how we can backfill non-GP positions. It’s incredibly frustrating and concerning.

Calm down that is not what they said just what you want to hear. They explicitly said they would try to focus on filling them internally to try and find a home for those displaced. Stop fear mongering.
I think people need to calm down. It makes sense to impose these limitations for this period. They recognized that they didn’t have the right skills among the leaders at the GP level. They ushered some out the door, put others in new roles and will hire in the skills they need that the firm doesn’t have. For the next level they are doing the same but trying to place as many internal people who stand to be displaced by the reorg into new roles to reduce the impact of the layoffs. This is one of the most thoughtful and transparent reductions in force I’ve ever seen. Just ask people who’ve been unceremoniously laid off at other firms. It seems in keeping with the culture people here brag about but all I see is everyone bi--hing like spoiled children and slinging vile insults at senior leaders. I find it amusing that I see people on here constantly using Ted’s quote about money not being his god as some kind of evidence that if he were alive this wouldn’t be happening. He’s been gone for 35 years. You can’t possibly know what he would have done when faced with a world he couldn’t even imagine. I do know that no wealthy person ever got that way by not caring about money so maybe that’s a clue. Let the downvoting begin…
@OP how will this work? Regional Leaders become GPs immediately. Is this only for HO roles?
