@ad there will be more in August
Yes there is normal turnover ever year, but what we saw in March was not normal. My team of roughly 120 was slashed to 8. We've been consistently missing SLOs ever since and no one in management seems the least bit bothered. We're also about 40% below mandated minimum staffing levels in at least one government contract that I know of, and that is if no one calls out or goes on vacation. Again management isn't at all bothered. What we are seeing happen is anything but normal.
Has anyone ever noticed there is a always a (totally a guess) 3K turnover every year. When it's larger I understand but this has been clockwork for 20 years roughly. Let's quit "clutching pearls" at this stuff.
The layoffs Keep coming and they dont stop coming... since covid times I watched them cut my talented friends to replace them with college new hires with no skills. If youre a college grads, stay stupid and dont get any promos are you will get laid off too eventually. Talent is destroyed at Dell. Get out asap.
lol, are layoffs done? Dell has never STOPPED laying people off since Covid... It's year round, every quarter, every month, week, day. You just don't hear about them because it's how they keep under the radar from having to report it. Until they get to the headcount they want, it's not going to stop... The RTO was 100% done in hopes it would cause people to quit, which I dont think has worked out as well as they were hoping.
I've been here for 6 years and LOVE my job but, because of my specific position and department I'm in, I'm pretty damn protected.. Though, it literally has been non-stop layoffs since I joined the company.
Yep, that’s all I’ve been told retrenchment will come in Aug. Fingers crossed it won’t be too bad.Yep,
@OP which August do you refer to? 2025, 26, 27, 37? Please clarify?
Layoffs will continue until all that's left are the c suite and an army of AI bots.
@OP They're continuous so they never have to admit to having "another" layoff. It's "just one" that's been going on for years.
It's all over but the crying.
They are currently restructuring ISG, with the development team being reorganized last week. Details are limited. They also follow a "follow the sun" policy, meaning teams working night shifts could potentially be cut. In short, layoffs are ongoing.
ISG big thing is next week.. or week after.. or no one knows, but everybody is waiting for big cleanup.
I saw managers are starting to send farewell emails so I guess not everybody got 20 or I contributor landing pkg.
Based on Dell's semi-annual planning cycles ( 2nd half AOP, 2nd half quotas/account planning), a big layoff is a no-brainer.
Until we have 80K employees
Layoffs are finished until next year
it will continue throughout the summer and onto September.
For now, they aren't over. You see people on this site saying that they've been let go. The most recent is ISG.
The layoffs will never be over. They are focusing on a “death by a thousand cuts” strategy.
Are layoffs over for July? I've heard that there will be more in ISG next week. Any truth to that?
No.
Hopefully they layoff your tech support. I am tired of calling in a trouble ticket and getting “Steve” from India!
They are continuous
Yes, there will be layoffs in August. That is really all that I know for sure.
I think management is enjoying the angst. They think it brings us together. Sort of like the survivors of a shipwreck. It’s a great conversation starter while getting coffee. “Hey, didja hear they let Sam go?”
