When Leadership feels exclusive

Why does leadership often seem like it’s part of a clique?
When the same people are hand-picked, closely aligned, and hanging out, isn’t that a form of favoritism?
Could it also reflect insecurity or a lack of real leadership — avoiding broader engagement and diverse input?
