Enrique isn’t anything other than a seat warmer. He doesn’t do anything except let HP flounder on autopilot while saying things are great and not answering questions in All hands meetings.
20+ years at HP. Worst: Mark "Hatchet Man" Hurd. Granted, he did push HP through the Compaq merger that Carly couldn't seem to finish, but, he didn't stop there and gutted almost all benefits the company had to offer. When he couldn't cut anymore he got himself fired. Best: I would say Meg Whitman. Forced product to come up with better offerings in the marketplace. Under Enrique, things have gotten progressively worst in the US (just when we say things can't get worse, they do).
carly anyone? ;-)
I trust Enrique more than the outside CEO's that the board kept bringing in. At least Enrique was from the rank and file HP.
Enrique was supposed to be a safe pair of hands to steer the ship temporarily but seems to have clung on for dear life as an HP lifer, whilst devaluing the business both core and poor integration of acquisitions. Hurd had supreme skill and charisma but made too many cuts.
Hurd was the biggest mess-up for HP. Huge layoffs during his time. No real innovation of new products during his tenure either. He was also hated by most of the people that I worked with at HP at the time.
Enrique is just the biggest laughing stock - lazy BAU guy who is hanging on for his pension. Although caught up in scandal, Hurd was a powerhouse and lead the infinitely larger and more successful HP to great success with many acquisitions, as he also did at Oracle after he left us. So loved by the market and hated by employees for mass layoffs.
My vote is for Mark Hurd. He was such a horrible sociopath that the HP board had to get rid of him because he was cutting into the muscle of the company.
Hands down - Mark Hurd
Not Enrique.
